“Marodo” Who are Marodo?
Marodo means an occasional visitor or a guest. In the field of folklore it means a god that pays a visit from a foreign land.
Inawashiro Denpojin and Marodo
Inawashiro is full of spots for various activity experiences. Speaking of experience tours in Inawashiro, they are rich in variety and can be guided and instruction is given by Inawashiro Denpojin upon request. The nature, tradition and culture which we now have will die out unless we citizens try to preserve and hand them down to the next generation with commitment. Hence, Inawashiro Tourist Association created a system to have those who have knowledge about nature, history, and culture of Inawashiro registered as Denpojin to give assistance to visitors of the town to help them learn more about it.
The ultimate goal is to have every citizen of Inawashiro be a Denpojin. By “experience tours” we mean sharing pleasant times with Denpojin while learning new things through mountain climbing or hiking not just listening to a lecture or receiving instructions from them.
As long as you hope to share appreciation of the precious natural and human assets of Inawashiro, you are not simply a tourist, but a Marodo.
For inquiry about Denpojin who will respond to Marodos’ interest and offer safe and helpful instruction, call or visit us.
